An agreement between Elm Company and KAUST for Research and Innovation Growth

To collaborate in research and development on mutual educational programs, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), has signed an agreement with Elm, the pioneering company owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) which is known as the first provider of digital solutions in Saudi Arabia.

The agreement that was signed at KAUST campus in Thuwal, represents a long history of collaborative partnerships between the two organizations. The agreement was signed by the Vice President of Research and Innovation at Elm, Eng. Amer bin Hashim Alkahtani and Dr. Kevin Cullen, Vice President of Innovation and Economic Development at KAUST. Worth mentioning, both organizations were partners in delivering two great events about energy and smart city solutions in 2018. Also, Elm sponsored KAUST students’ participation in “Junction” the largest hackathon in Europe. 

“The exchange of knowledge with pioneering experts is an important aspect for KAUST, since economic development is a key part of our mission. This agreement will encourage new and innovative opportunities for entrepreneurial training as well as the development of applied and scientific skills that will play a crucial part in creating a knowledge-based economy that contributes to Vision 2030. Scientific activities such as technical courses and camps will provide more opportunities for employment. Also, it allows knowledge sharing through KAUST’s world leading faculty in research.” Said, Dr. Kevin Cullen, VP of Innovation and Economic Development.

Vice President of Marketing at Elm, Majid bin Saad Alarifi said: “The agreement with KAUST comes as a part of Elm’s research and innovation strategy which seeks to contribute to Vision 2030 by building a long-term strategic partnership with leading organizations in scientific research and innovation. We encourage growth and innovation among our employees and our community. This agreement with KAUST aims at establishing digital labs that will support talented students, adopt their ideas, and plan technology, innovation and creativity programs for KAUST.”
